My name is Meagan Carson and I am a certified labor doula in the Des Moines area whose passion is to serve moms and families, working with them to help them gain the confidence and skills needed for birth, and providing them caring support through their birth journey. Birth is a beautiful gift and it’s my honor and joy to serve others in it.
A labor doula supports moms and families before, during and after birth, provides unbiased and evidence based educational, physical and emotional support, works with the expectant mom and family, helping them gain the skills and confidence needed for labor, delivery and postpartum, and listens to and supports the mom’s needs and choices.
Women attended by a labor doula are more likely to have a spontaneous vaginal birth and a shorter labor. They are less likely to have a cesarean birth, need instrumental delivery, have an epidural, and less likely to feel a loss of control in labor.
